Mercurio Partners has just enabled, together with its client, Imetame, the implementation of the UTE Prosperidade III, a natural gas thermoelectric plant with 50MW of power, located in the city of Camaçari, Bahia.

Originally designed to be a biomass plant, Mercurio created the opportunity, advised on the purchase of the PPA and conducted the transfer process with the regulatory bodies, whose final milestone was 03/09, the approval by Aneel of the transfer of ownership.

The project has a mechanism for offsetting the emission of greenhouse gases in accordance with the GHG Protocol, the result of which will be the first 100% carbon-neutral thermal in Brazil. For Alexandre Americano, founding partner of Mercurio Partners, this is an important milestone for the national energy market. “This project breaks the paradigm that thermoelectric plants are expensive and polluting. The UTE Prosperidade III will have an energy cost highly favorable to the consumer, with firm energy that uses national gas, with the differential of being environmentally correct”. In addition to the innovation factor, this project will serve as a model for other projects that seek to develop or adapt to global demands for sustainability and adaptations in ESG, concludes the executive. The UTE is expected to start operating in the second half of 2022.
